Iskraemeco's project page dates the award and names the same three companies: "In August 2017, Wiener Netze announced that it had selected a consortium comprising Siemens, Landis+Gyr and Iskraemeco for the mass-deployment phase of the rollout." Siemens' own magazine names the same three: "Siemens ist gemeinsam mit Landis+Gyr und Iskraemeco Lead- und Technologiepartner der Wiener Netze bei der Umstellung auf die neuen elektronischen Stromzähler" (Siemens is, together with Landis+Gyr and Iskraemeco, lead and technology partner of Wiener Netze).
Caveat
Neither source puts Siemens above the other two. Iskraemeco describes a consortium of three without a lead, and the Siemens magazine calls all three jointly lead and technology partners, so "Siemens led" is a stronger reading than the sources give. Both are suppliers writing about their own contract.

Caveat
November 2018 was a deliberately small start. The same source says the large-scale phase only began in 2021, with 436,000 meters deployed by the end of that year. The service area is also wider than the city: Wiener Netze supplies Vienna plus parts of Lower Austria and Burgenland.

The month is disputed by the operator itself. Wiener Netze's legal page says the target was met in November 2024; the December date comes from its supplier and is tied to a symbolic ceremony rather than to the moment the threshold was crossed.

Caveat
This is the operator's own count and is not broken down or independently audited. The release is also an enforcement notice, which gives Wiener Netze a reason to state the remaining number plainly.

The page names the instrument as the Intelligente Messgeräte-Einführungsverordnung (IME-VO 2022) under ElWOG 2010, and traces the requirement back to the EU's third internal energy market package.
Caveat
The 95 percent is a country-wide quota, not a target written for Vienna. Wiener Netze reports meeting it within its own service area; the page does not say what share of the national total that represents.

The trade report is titled "Österreich erreicht nahezu Voll-Rollout bei Smart Metern" (Austria reaches near-complete smart meter rollout) and attributes the share to the regulator E-Control, which counts metering points rather than customers. The article itself could not be opened: every edition of the publisher's site answers automated requests with a block page, so the wording was confirmed through search results rather than read on the page, and no locator string could be taken from it.
Caveat
The national figure counts metering points across Austria and is published by the regulator, not by Wiener Netze. The Vienna share it is compared against is not published by the operator at all, so the two numbers are alike in size but are not measured the same way. The reference year could not be confirmed on the page itself.
