Claims, one by one

The text below is copied verbatim from the published record. Each claim names the source dossiers that carry it; caveats stay attached to the claim they qualify.

Claim 1 clm-9dbc1c59b636032c descriptive
Zurich's municipal utility ewz finances and runs the heat, cooling and power network for Greencity

What the mapping says
ewz's own reference page: "Als Partner im Energiebereich haben wir eine ganzheitliche Lösung für die komplette Energieinfrastruktur geplant, finanziert und realisiert" ("as energy partner we planned, financed and built a complete solution for the entire energy infrastructure"), and "verantworten wir die komplette Energieinfrastruktur und stellen den Nutzenden das ganze Jahr über zuverlässig Strom sowie Wärme- und Kälteenergie zur Verfügung" (we are responsible for the complete energy infrastructure and reliably supply users year-round with electricity as well as heat and cooling).

Claim 2 clm-88ca8924cc222172 quantitative
Switzerland's first 2000-Watt district
Published field

What the mapping says
Losinger Marazzi's own project page states under "Besonderheiten": "Das erste zertifizierte 2000-Watt-Areal der Schweiz." ("The first certified 2000-Watt district in Switzerland.") That is the only one of the five listed sources that makes the nationwide claim.
Caveat
The 'first in Switzerland' claim comes from the site's own developer. Swiss Engineering STV's write-up on the same project instead calls it "das erste Quartier in Zürich" that meets 2000-Watt-Gesellschaft targets — a narrower, city-level claim, not a national one.

Six groundwater wells and 215 geothermal probes drive 5 MW of ammonia heat pumps
Published field

Mapping
mapped · no interpretation or interpolation added by this passport
What the mapping says
Swiss Engineering STV independently confirms the same counts: "6 Grundwasser-Entnahmebrunnen ... 215 Erdwärmesonden à 220 m Tiefe (4 Felder)" and "4 Ammoniak WP/KM à total 5 MW Heizleistung".
Caveat
Swiss Engineering STV also lists 2 groundwater infiltration galleries alongside the 6 extraction wells, which the entry's snippet omits — not a contradiction, just a simplification.

Claim 4 clm-ab3c0a62a4dbb478 quantitative
584 kWp of rooftop PV and a biogas boiler for peaks
Published field
snippet · verbatim
Mapping
mapped · no interpretation or interpolation added by this passport
What the mapping says
Swiss Engineering STV gives the exact figure: "Die Photovoltaik-Anlage verteilt auf 10 Dächern ... Sie hat eine Leistung von insgesamt 584 kWp und ist in Ost-West Richtung aufgeständert." It also lists "1 Biogaskessel à 2 MW Heizleistung" used for redundancy and peak demand ("Redundanz sowie zur Deckung des Spitzenbedarfs"). The city's 2014 release corroborates the biogas-for-peaks role: "Für die Spitzenlast im Winter steht zusätzlich Biogas zur Verfügung."
Caveat
ewz's own current reference page rounds this down to "über 500 kWp installierte PV-Leistung" rather than citing 584 kWp specifically — not a contradiction (584 is indeed over 500), just a less precise figure from the operator itself.

City projected ~1,800 t CO2 avoided per year

Mapping

What the mapping says
The city's December 2014 press release, announcing council approval of ewz's contracting budget, states: "Dank dieser umweltfreundlichen Energieversorgung lassen sich pro Jahr 1800 Tonnen CO₂ einsparen, was rund 37 Tanklastwagen Öl entspricht." This is explicitly framed as an expected saving from the approved concept, i.e. a projection at contracting stage, matching the entry's own "projected" framing.
Caveat
This is the 2014, contracting-stage projection. Swiss Engineering STV's later technical breakdown gives a slightly different, presumably more current, full-build-out figure for Greencity alone (1,900 t/year), and ewz's current reference page cites 2,400 t/year — but for the combined "Greencity & Areal West" area, which is larger than Greencity alone.

the district now houses ~2,000 residents and ~3,000 workplaces

What the mapping says
Losinger Marazzi's current project page describes Greencity in the present tense: "Greencity beherbergt: 730 Wohnungen (ca. 2000 BewohnerInnen) 43 000 m2 Büroflächen (ca. 3000 Arbeitsplätze) 4500 m2 Hotel (ca. 350 Gäste)" ("Greencity houses: 730 apartments [approx. 2000 residents], 43,000 sqm of office space [approx. 3000 workplaces], 4,500 sqm hotel [approx. 350 guests]"). The site is described as largely complete, with only the last building (B6/Vergé) still under construction as of this reading.
Caveat
These are the developer's own approximate, self-reported figures on a project-marketing page, not an independent census. They also closely mirror the city's original 2014 construction target for the same district ("Wohnungen für 1500 bis 2000 Menschen sowie Raum für etwa 3000 Arbeitsplätze"), so "now houses" may reflect the site's planned near-final capacity as much as a precisely counted current occupancy.

The federal 2000-Watt-Areal label Greencity pioneered was scrapped in 2024 for lack of demand

What the mapping says
espazium, an independent trade-press outlet, reported: "Per 2024 macht die Behörde Schluss mit der Zertifizierung von 2000-Watt-Arealen." ("As of 2024 the authority is ending certification of 2000-Watt districts.") It gives the reason explicitly: "«Die zu geringe Nachfrage» bewegt nun das Bundesamt, die Finanzierung überraschend zu beenden" ("'Insufficient demand' is now moving the federal office to unexpectedly end the funding") — after 43 certified sites nationwide.
Caveat
This espazium article is dated 18 March 2022. It reports the federal energy office's announced plan to end the certification scheme "per 2024" via a harmonisation agreement signed that month — it documents the plan, not an after-the-fact confirmation that the scheme was actually discontinued on schedule in 2024.

Known limits of this passport
  • Publisher names and source languages have not yet been classified; domains are recorded without guessing.
  • Existing source notes are descriptive locators, not page- or paragraph-exact citations.
  • A missing archive, publication date or content hash is shown as null rather than inferred.
  • The project-level evidence grade ranks the strongest source in the entry; it is not a truth score for every claim.
