The URBS Est@R portal's own FAQ describes the switch and the withdrawal of the paper cards: "O sistema eletrônico começa em 16 de março, mas até 10 de maio os antigos cartões de papel conviverão" and "A partir de 11 de maio, os cartões antigos não serão mais aceitos." The accredited-app operator Estacionamento Digital states the same for the driver: "Com o app Estacionamento Digital, o motorista não usará mais o cartão físico de papel e o ticket de estacionamento será digital." That URBS is the responsible authority is stated by the same page: "A Urbs é responsável pelo EstaR de acordo com a Lei Municipal N.º15.258/2018".
Caveat
URBS is Curitiba's urbanisation and transit company; the sources name it as the authority responsible for regulated parking rather than describing it as a transit authority.

Caveat
The figure appears only on the page of one accredited app operator, which sells parking credit in the system; neither URBS nor the city gives a total number of regulated spaces. The page carries no date, so the year the count refers to is unclear. The URBS portal mentions only a future addition: "A previsão é que no futuro sejam abertas mais 3 mil vagas de estacionamento regulamentado na cidade."

Caveat
A parking session is not bought in 15-minute units: the city's Q&A states that activation is for at least one hour and that the fractioning applies within it — "A ativação é de no mínimo uma hora, com fracionamento a cada 15 minutos." Unused 15-minute fractions are credited back when the driver ends the session.

Caveat
That list dates from the launch. The download section of the same portal, "Aplicativos Disponíveis", now offers nine apps and partly different ones — among them AppEstar (Clan) and Sem Parar, while elparking and DIGIPARE no longer appear. The number of accredited apps has therefore changed since the switch, and eight describes the starting line-up rather than the current one.

No street-side detection equipment is described anywhere on either page.
Caveat
This rests on what the sources describe rather than on an explicit statement: the word "sensor" does not appear on the URBS portal, the city's Q&A or the app operator's page, but none of them says outright that no sensors exist.
