The Siemens release on the masterplan competition says the company is redesigning "Siemensstadt (“Siemens City”), the company’s historic location in Berlin" and describes it as "the currently closed-off industrial park – which covers an area of some 70 hectares or about 100 football fields in the Spandau district of Berlin", at the place "where the cornerstone of the original Siemensstadt was laid in 1897". RCR Wireless adds that the quarter was "originally settled ... as a new industrial quarter by Siemens & Halske, a forebear of today’s Siemens", and quotes the German chancellor calling it a place of new beginnings "for 125 years".
Caveat
RCR Wireless misdates the founding to "the end of the 20th century"; the 1897 cornerstone date comes from Siemens' own account of its site.

"Smart district" is Siemens' own designation for the scheme, used in its announcement, not a description by an outside body.

RCR Wireless, also listed here, gives a different measure for the same project — "The new site will cover 270,000 square metres", i.e. 27 hectares — without saying whether this is the new-build footprint or the whole estate.
Caveat
The 2020 Siemens announcement described the estate as "some 70 hectares"; 76 hectares is the figure used since the 2024 launch. Only the standfirst of the Smart Cities World article is readable without registering.
