Incheon Airport's Facial-Recognition Boarding (Smart Pass)
Registered travelers clear Incheon Airport's departure halls and boarding gates using facial recognition alone, without showing a passport or boarding pass. Operator Incheon International Airport Corporation launched it in July 2023; facial terminals now cover all 158 boarding gates (2025), and passport-free halls expand to half of both terminals by October 2026. About 14.8% of passengers used it as of March 2026.

Years after launch, uptake stayed under 15% while dedicated lanes covered only a few of sixteen departure halls — officials cited poorly placed, oversubscribed corridors as the reason passengers reverted to normal lines; the 2026 expansion is a direct response to that complaint.
