Dakar's flagship smart-mobility project is its Bus Rapid Transit, billed as sub-Saharan Africa's first fully electric BRT. An 18.3-kilometre segregated corridor with 23 stations runs from the northern suburb of Guediawaye to the city centre, worked by a fleet of electric articulated buses that entered partial commercial service in May 2024. The line is run by concessionaire Dakar Mobilite — a Meridiam and FONSIS venture under the transport authority CETUD — on a NAVINEO fleet-management system with contactless and mobile ticketing. When fully ramped up it is designed to carry up to 300,000 passengers a day and cut the cross-city trip from 95 to 45 minutes.
The atlas documents 1 project in Dakar: 1 still running without a verdict. The entry carries an evidence grade — the strongest here is official (1 entry) — and links its sources.
