Bergen's smart-city bet runs underground. A city whose historic Bryggen waterfront, UNESCO-listed after a 1702 fire that burned most of the town, was rebuilt in wood in a cramped valley, turned in the 2000s to a buried vacuum-pipe network to pull collection trucks out of its narrow lanes. Approved in 2008 and switched on in 2015, the Bossnett has grown block by block ever since, one of the most ambitious attempts anywhere to replace curbside bins with pneumatic tubes, its economics still debated locally even as it expands.
The atlas documents 1 project in Bergen: 1 still running without a verdict. The entry carries an evidence grade — the strongest here is official (1 entry) — and links its sources.
