Adelaide's entry in the atlas is a bet on infrastructure rather than software: in December 2017 the city council named TPG Telecom its official network provider and subsidised a fibre build for businesses in the square-mile CBD and North Adelaide. By October 2020 the network reached 1,000 buildings over 82km of fibre, with symmetrical services of up to 10 Gbps. The council paid for the reach; the company owns and runs what was laid.
